State of Undress

State of Undress Memorably described as ‘A colourful, lively band – as vibrant and varied as a mood swing’, State of Undress have been writing and performing their own distinctive brand of original music for more than 10 years in and around the Hampshire/Dorset area with a variety of line-ups along the way. Just over 2 years ago, (bravely or recklessly!)lead singer Charlie Rose gave up the day job to write for and promote the band full-time. She's now broke but happy! Early in 2004, State of Undress released their first album 'Undressed' to some great local reviews. They have recently produced their second album 'Ghosts of Wasted Chances' - tracks from both albums are currently on the MVine site. They are really pleased to have a distribution deal with Proper Music Access. The band and the album have received some positive, warm reviews including a feature in the January issue of 'Maverick'and a live review in the April issue. The band are delighted to learn that the new album has been receiving some airplay on a number of regional radio stations including Celtic Heartbeat on BBC Radio Wales and an interview and live session for the Dave Lee Travis show on BBC Three Counties Radio. They're even getting some airplay on the Country Music Network in New Zealand! All the more amazing because they are not really a country band at all! All six band members would love to be working on State of Undress full-time - a stretch limo to take them to gigs would be nice but not necessary. Scraping a living will do! State of Undress are difficult to pigeon hole. Their guitar-based music interspersed with mandolin, banjo, violin and percussion in addition to drums and bass is provocative, thoughtful, raunchy, fun and original: a sound that is all their own. A few quotes: Dave Lee Travis BBC Three Counties Radio “Song For A Boy” is one of the most poignant, most stunning songs I’ve heard in a long time and without doubt I will revisit this track again” BBC Southern Counties Radio State of Undress remind me of, on one hand the more jolly Pogues stuff, on the other the Beautiful South. They have good spirit, feel good songs with a touch of humour to some of the lyrical content MAVERICK. ‘Beautifully crafted lyrics …melodies that linger long after the gig is over …’ ORPHEUS Mag. ‘I was literally blown away after the first listen of this album. State of Undress definitely deserve to be discovered by a wider audience’ COUNTRY MUSIC ROUND UP ‘Song writers who really know their craft … not country in the accepted sense, rather a mix of folk, pop, jazz and country’ TRUCK AND DRIVER ‘A poppy accessibility, catchy melodies, and bright, jangly acoustic sound lift them high above the pack.’ Forthcoming gigs are: Friday 29th September The Cavern Liverpool 8.30pm Wednesday 4th Oct Virgin Megastore, Piccadilly, London 6.00pm-7.00pm – free entry; all welcome Friday 6th October The Cornmarket Inn, Salisbury 9.00pm - cancelled.
