The AKA band are currently wowing audiences throughout Britain with their direct, catchy and melodic songs. Formed in July 2005, the Brighton based 5 piece have already had success winning the University of Westminster’s radio Battle-Of-The-Bands competition. In addition to this, they have also been targeted by major record labels both in England and the United States. With a line up of 3 girls and 2 guys, not only do they have the look, they are also highly accomplished musicians. The AKA Bands music has been described as Beatles-esque songs with a softer Oasis sound, add on to that a female singer and you have arrived at AKA . The songwriting skills of Caws/Allen/BA, along with the strong vocal talents of Allen, and Caws’ carefully crafted solos could quite easily be developed into the biggest band to come out of England in years! AKA’s rhythm section are the 'Smith' sisters providing a unique blend of comforting grooves and pulsating energy; Vicky (bass) and Hannah (drums) are both students from the Brighton Insitute of Modern Music. Justin Potter (guitar) completes the line up, bringing a wealth of experience and creativity to the band. Having played venues such as Covent Gardens prestigious ‘Rock Garden’, the AKA band continue to impress and develop. Exciting times lie in store for this youthful, marketable and talented act.
